---|
Explore the challenging 8.2-kilometer round-trip trail located near Underberg in Kwazulu-Natal, perfect for those seeking backpacking, camping, and hiking adventures.
Very beautiful views along this hike. Not too tough in terms of fitness levels required but you have to do 6 river crossings The water can be quite high and the current pretty strong so keep that in mind. The trail can be very slippery in sections. The path is not always well marked and can be overgrown in sections. Look out for the overhanging cave and on this route you might see some predator birds, Eland and horses. There’s is also a smaller cave just a little bit further on called the Engagement Cave. It’s quite small so keep your eyes peeled, you might just miss it. The pools on the way to the cave are crystal clear and great for taking a dip in the summer months or on warmer winter days. The cave is huge and offers excellent protection from bad weather. The last section on the way to the cave is up some wooden steps. There is enough flat sections in the cave to sleep 10 people comfortably. While at at cave you can explore Engagement Cave which is about 250m further along the valley (North).
