Roodepoort parkrun

features

Discover the joy of an invigorating morning run through the scenic landscapes of Len Rutter Park in Florida Park with the Roodepoort 5km parkrun, where participants come together to celebrate fitness, community, and the beauty of the outdoors.

The course is 5000m (5k) long. This has been accurately measured by us with a professional measuring wheel. The course is in Len Rutter Park, Florida Park, Johannesburg and run on grass with some rutted sand and gravel tracks and concrete paving. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.

Course Description

Starting at the lapa, head in a southerly direction following the path towards and along the river. Continue along the path up a slight incline. Make a right turn onto the concrete foot path. Follow the path heading in a westerly direction to the river and cross the bridge section next to the road. Follow the path towards the right. As you continue up the rise, there is a sharp turn to the right, marked with a flag. Continue along the path in a northerly direction. The path will eventually bend to the left on an incline and lead to a dirt road. Join the dirt road and turn right onto the footpath marked by the flag. The path makes a sudden right turn and follows the perimeter of the park to the north-east corner of the park. At this point you will turn right and follow the path and flags as you cut across the park back to the starting point of the run to begin the second lap. On completion of the second lap, runners will make a slight turn to the left and into the finishing area.
