Set off on this 8.5-kilometer out-and-back trail in the vicinity of Underberg, Kwazulu-Natal. It’s typically regarded as a moderately challenging route, with an average completion time of about 2 hours and 45 minutes. This trail is a well-liked choice for those who enjoy hiking, running, and leisurely walks.

Starting at the Garden Castle Campsite, this route goes northwest through a beautiful valley. You’ll cross the stream a couple times as you go towards the cave. The cave is known for its unique pillar-like formations inside. If you’d like to extend your hike you can go past the cave. Pillar Cave provides spectacular views of Rhino Peak and Mashai Pass. The sleeping areas are fairly level and smooth, but can become very muddy. Don’t expect any privacy though!
