Embark on this scenic hike, commencing at Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge. The trail gracefully descends into the picturesque Mahai valley, leading you through enchanting forests and across babbling rivers. A slightly challenging climb awaits as you make your way to the breathtaking Gudu falls, nestled within the lush Gudu forest. This spot serves as an ideal location for a serene picnic and, if you’re feeling adventurous, a refreshing swim in the crisp mountain waters.

Afterwards, retrace your path until you locate the sign for “The Crack.” This segment involves a moderately steep ascent through a narrow gulley in the cliff-face, where you’ll encounter two wooden ladders and one chain ladder to aid in your upward journey. Upon conquering “The Crack,” a more gentle uphill section guides you back to the lodge’s parking lot, completing your invigorating hiking experience.
