This hike starts from Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge and gently descends into the Mahai valley going through forests and crossing rivers. There is a steep hike up to the spectacular Gudu falls through Gudu forest. This makes for a great picnic stop and swimming area if you can brave the cool mountain waters. Retrace your steps until you reach the sign for The Crack which is a steep ascent through a narrow gulley in the cliff-face that contains two wooden and one chain ladder to help ascend to the top. Once you reach the top of The Crack then it is a gentler uphill back to the lodge parking lot.
