Kloofendal Nature Reserve, nestled within Johannesburg’s urban embrace, is a peaceful sanctuary where nature enthusiasts can explore diverse landscapes, uncover ancient rock art, and enjoy moments of tranquility amidst the city’s hustle.

Kloofendal Nature Reserve is a 128 hectare,  public facility, managed by Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo, and is subject to public space bylaws. The reserve is completely fenced off and security guards are on duty day and night.

Reserve Open Hours

The reserve is open everyday including weekends and public holidays from 6am to 6pm. Note that there is no entry after 5pm.

Entry to the reserve is free for groups of up to 20 people. A booking must be made for groups of more than 20 people. See below for booking contacts.

Kloofendal Nature Reserve offers

A variety of outdoor activities can be enjoyed within the reserve.

  • Guided nature walks of many nature topics for people of all ages.
  • Involvement in environment and community projects.
  • Picnicking.
  • Braai facilities are available (No booking required).
  • Executive lapa and braai lapa (booking required).
