The course is 5000m (5k) long. This has been accurately measured by us with a professional measuring wheel. It’s run in Delta Park, Victory Park, Johannesburg and run mostly on grass with some rutted sand and gravel tracks, and it crosses a small tarred road surface. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. Dependent on availability, marshals will be at key sections of the course, or signs will be in place.
Course Description
Starting at the Delta Environment Centre, head north along the path, then turn right just before the perimeter of the park. Stay adjacent to the perimeter and down the hill. Follow the path to the right up the shallow hill staying close to the fence. Turn right into the lane with the paddock and Guide grounds on your left. Then turn left into the road and up the hill. At the start of the Scout grounds, turn right and cross the field towards the children’s play area. Cross the service road and follow the path to the right of the parking and then veer left and up the hill (Polly Shortts) with the perimeter on your left. At the crest of the hill, follow the path to the right and across the second small bridge. Follow the path across the west side of the park keeping the perimeter on your left. When you reach the car park on the left, proceed to the left of the small solitary tree and take the obvious path towards the oak trees. The path becomes a double track under the trees. Keep to the perimeter. Follow the path to the adjacent perimeter keeping the trees to your left. Make a right turn onto the original path where you will see the start/finish area in the distance.Facilities
