This sensational hike to the summit of 3,004m Cathedral Peak can be done as a walk without any climbing equipment. Although, it’s not an easy one. Considered ‘non-technical’ the return day trip is 19 kilometres, ascends 1600 metres and takes 9 to 10 hours.
One of best hikes if a lifetime. Extraordinary long expansive views from the ridge section, steep rocky short turns and switchbacks. Isolation, altitude, views, verdant mountain side, rocky peaks, and unique topography it has everything for the ultimate hike. Navigation along the route can be challenging towards the end as the trails are not well-signed, having the map downloaded ahead of time can help keep you on track.
