Aasvoel Krantz Cave

features

Route

8.5km – Out & back – Moderate

Embark on an 8.5-kilometer out-and-back trail near Highmoor, Kwazulu-Natal, which is commonly acknowledged as a moderately challenging route. It typically takes about 2 hours and 13 minutes to complete and is a favoured choice for birdwatching, hiking, and running.

Aasvoel Krantz Cave is situated at the top of a small gorge overlooking the Tier Kloof special conservation area and there is a wellworn path all the way to the cave. The area is also the breeding ground for the Wattled Crain and well worth the visit for the avid bird watcher. The cave is actually a double story cave that can sleep 12 people with ease. However the top story is not that suitable to sleep in and has quite a drop so not suitable for small children.
